PETALING JAYA: Umno says it has no problem with Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s call for Malay parties to unite under PPBM, but maintains its reservations about being part of any alliance with DAP.
“This means that PPBM cannot be the platform to unite the Malays as long as they rely on non-Malay parties in PH, especially the DAP,” said Umno secretary-general Annuar Musa.
He said the party will stick to its current cooperation with PAS in the opposition.
“Umno and PAS will be guided by a code that will see greater unity among the Malays,” he added.
Last week, Mahathir said the split among Malays had weakened their political power.
“But we find that there are people forming new parties.”
