SEPANG: Deputy Home Minister Azis Jamman today confirmed that charges will be brought against a former aide accused of taking an upskirt video of a woman with his mobile phone.

He said he had been informed that the investigation papers have been handed over to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) for further action.

“I was told he would be charged. So we will wait. It is up to the AGC,” he said after seeing off pilgrims bound for Mecca at KLIA here today.

The 48-year-old aide was arrested at Solaris Dutamas, Sri Hartamas, in Kuala Lumpur last year. He was later released on police bail.

He was investigated for insulting behaviour and for insulting the modesty of another person.

According to reports, the victim, an optician, was treating Azis at an outlet in the mall when she noticed that a man who was seated behind her was holding his mobile phone up under her skirt.

A CCTV recording of the incident showed the man placing his phone near the optician’s skirt as she was checking Azis’ eyesight.

Azis, who is Sepanggar MP, sacked his aide after footage of the incident went viral.

He said the man’s actions had jeopardised his image and credibility as the deputy home minister.
