
Justice Collin Lawrence Sequerah allowed Shafee’s application after the court was informed that the latter had been appointed as counsel for a case in Sydney.
Shafee, who represented himself, said he needed to be in Australia from Sept 5 to 9.
“My travel will not affect the 1MDB trial this Thursday as I will leave only at night,” he added, referring to the ongoing trial of former prime minister Najib Razak.
This is the second time Shafee has been allowed temporary access to his passport for work purposes.
On June 21, he was allowed to travel to Australia to meet with a client.
The senior lawyer is facing two counts of money laundering charges amounting to RM9.5 million.
He posted bail of RM1 million and surrendered his passport to the court.
