
He said Sabiha Gokcen under MAHB had served 31 million travellers in 2017.
“Not only Sabiha Gokcen, we also receive invitations from other countries to manage their airports,” he said after attending a breakfast session with the local community here.
He said Malaysian pilots are also employed at airline companies in China, India and even Saudi Arabia.
Commenting further on the decision by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to downgrade the country’s air safety rating from Category 1 to 2, he reiterated that the government would seek an explanation for this and how it would affect Malaysia.
“We are willing to fix the situation,” he added. “No problem with that.”
The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) has also pledged to address the findings of FAA’s audit, voicing hope that the US body will review its decision in the next 12 months.
CAAM said some of the FAA findings, including on legislation, training and obligations, were “ambiguous” and assured that the move would not affect local airlines, airports or air traffic services.
The downgrade, among others, subjects Malaysia’s airlines to flight restrictions and more checks.
