Perak allocates RM10 mil for non-Muslim places of worship

The money to renovate, maintain and build non-Muslim places of worship will come from the state's 2020 budget.

The Perak government has allocated RM10 million for renovating, maintaining and building non-Muslim places of worship.

Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu said the allocations channelled through the Perak 2020 budget also covered activities of the non-Islamic communities.

“The state government is committed to ensuring that the political stability, economic development, social prosperity and inter-religious harmony in Perak is preserved.

“If we have shortcomings, work together so that the government and society can complement each other for the development of the state,” he said at a Christmas celebration at Stadium Indera Mulia here last night.

The text of his speech was read by his special adviser, Zainol Fadzi Paharuddin.

About 5,000 people of various races attended the event. Also present were Housing, Local Government, Public Transport, Non-Muslim Affairs and New Villages Committee chairman Paul Yong Choo Kiong and state assembly speaker Ngeh Koo Ham.
