KIMANIS:
The Warisan candidate in the Kimanis by-election has denied that his campaigners stopped and interrogated Umno candidate Mohamad Alamin and his group yesterday.

Karim Bujang said if there had been such an incident, Mohamad was free to lodge a police report.

“It is not true. If it really happened, he is free to lodge a police report on the matter,” Karim told reporters after attending a Christmas celebration at Bongawan Estate today.

Earlier, Sabah Umno chief Bung Moktar Radin alleged that Warisan supporters had prevented Mohamad and his group from campaigning at Batu 6 yesterday evening.

Bung Moktar wanted the authorities and the Election Commission to investigate, saying he would lodge a police report.

“This is the work of thugs, blocking and detaining our candidate from campaigning. Why do they need to interrogate and ask what we are doing and where we are going?” he said to reporters at Kampung Mandangin.

“They had no right to detain him. This could result in conflict.”

According to Karim, his party was having a function at Batu 6 when Mohamad and his group arrived. He believed the Warisan members advised them from entering.

Karim also clarified that a 48-second video of a man shouting in front of him had nothing to do with him.

He said the man, identified as Pinor Kuibi, was shouting at a Warisan member who was with him during a house-to-house visit yesterday.

Apparently, Pinor was promised payment by the Warisan member for some work he had done, he said.

Karim said Pinor had also been unhappy at not being picked as village chief.
