Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said such a list was usually released during festive seasons but this was needed now as some irresponsible shop operators may take advantage to hike food prices.
“We don’t have to wait for a festive season to come out with this list,” he said, adding that price control will be implemented under Phase 3 of the MCO, that starts on April 15.

He again advised the people there was no need to panic as there was adequate food supply.
He said spot checks carried out by the domestic trade and consumer affairs ministry at 1,205 retail outlets, warehouses and factories showed ” there were adequate supplies of all essential items”.
This includes wet and dry goods, including rice.
Ismail said the ministry had also received 8,145 complaints and inquiries from March 18 to April 11 on food prices.
“That is why we want to stop any possible price hike by releasing a list of food prices,” he added.
The government has also urged those facing domestic violence or child abuse to call Talian Kasih at 15999 or WhatsApp at 019 216 5999.
Ismail said this will allow the police to take immediate action on these complaints.
Ismail said 750 residents in Sungai Lui, Hulu Langat, placed under the extended MCO, had received 1,000 food baskets.
Another 225,871 households, eligible for the government’s food basket aid since the MCO started, have also received these food baskets, he added.
