SHAH ALAM:
Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari does not want the issue of his wife’s social media post showing their swimming pool to be prolonged.

“My wife has apologised and I hope people will not carry on about this issue. She was just expressing her happiness at receiving water after waiting nearly a day,” he said at a press conference.

“It’s okay if this issue is used to attack me. We just have to be careful (about our posts) and we have already apologised for the mistake,” he said.

Amirudin’s wife, Masdiana Muhamad’s two posts on Instagram yesterday, one showing a picture of the swimming pool and another of an Air Selangor water tanker purportedly at their home amid the water disruption in the state, drew criticism from social media users.

Some people assumed that the water tanker had been sent to fill the pool, a claim which Masdiana denied in another post later in the day.

Amirudin Shari.

“The claim that the lorry was sent to fill the swimming pool is not true at all,” she said on Instagram.

“As a mother, I only wanted to relay my thanks to the Air Selangor frontliners who have been working hard over the past few days. It was not my intention to gloat,” she added on the photo of the Air Selangor water tanker in their compound.

She apologised for the posts, but by then, many had criticised the posts as “inappropriate” given the water disruption affecting 1.2 million people in the state over the past few days.
