I do not fear death, health DG says after MP’s remark

Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah says as a Muslim, he will accept death, regardless of wherever he dies.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah responds to GPS MP Tiong King Sing’s claim made earlier in the Dewan Rakyat.
PUTRAJAYA:
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has refuted the accusation of being afraid of dying from Covid-19 and avoiding activities on the ground.

“There are no issues of being afraid of death,” he said at a press conference today.

“As Muslims, we accept death wherever (we are), regardless of whether it occurs on the ground or not.”

Earlier today in the Dewan Rakyat, MP Tiong King Sing (GPS-Bintulu) questioned why Noor Hisham was not visiting hospitals to provide moral support to medical teams.

He claimed Noor Hisham was afraid of dying and accused the latter of seeking publicity with his daily health briefings.

Noor Hisham said he had in fact gone to the ground at the end of August when he flew to Sabah to monitor preparations for the state polls.

He added that he had also instructed the ministry’s deputy director-general for public health Dr Chong Chee Keong and director for the disease control division Dr Norhayati Rusli to oversee Covid-19 matters in Sabah.

“Our main intention is to break the chain of Covid-19 infections in our country. This is so we can save our country from Covid-19 and further deaths,” he said.
