4 new Covid-19 clusters detected in Sabah, Sarawak, Melaka

They are the Bonggaya, Jambatan B, Abell and BMU clusters.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that out of the total 158 active clusters reported, 65 were related to the workplace, including two of the new clusters reported today.

The health ministry has detected four new Covid-19 clusters in the country over the last 24 hours.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said they are the Bonggaya and Jambatan B clusters in Sabah, the Abell cluster in Sarawak, and the BMU cluster in Melaka.

He said the Bonggaya cluster was detected in Sandakan after community screenings on Oct 27. To date, 243 people have been screened, with 46 testing positive and 74 awaiting their test results.

The Jambatan B cluster, also from Sandakan, was detected when the index patient was screened after showing symptoms on Oct 17. A total of 201 people have been screened, with 53 testing positive and 30 waiting for their test results.

The Abell cluster was detected in Kuching after the index case went for an individual screening on Nov 10. Seventy people have been screened so far, with 14 testing positive  and 43 awaiting their test results.

Meanwhile, the BMU cluster from Jasin district in Melaka was identified when an individual was screened after showing symptoms on Wednesday. Sixty-nine others have been screened, with 10 confirmed as positive, and the rest were still waiting for their results.

Noor Hisham said that out of the total 158 active clusters reported, 65 or 41.1% were related to the workplace, including two of the new clusters reported today.

A total of 5,681 positive cases had been recorded from these workplace clusters, involving 3,369 Malaysians and 2,312 foreigners.

On the other clusters, he said that those with a large number of new infections included the Damanlela construction site cluster in Kuala Lumpur/Selangor with 191 new cases. There are now 282 cases from this cluster.

The Hentian cluster affecting Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Negeri Sembilan reported 164 new cases, pushing its total number to 662.

The Perigi cluster affecting Selangor also reported 82 new cases.
