
Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Nancy Shukri said 32 of them were shut after winding-up orders were obtained from the courts.
She said 57 companies involved in tour operations had also ended their businesses.

Nancy said the ministry had been assisting the hospitality industry through various initiatives, including the Penjana tourism funding, tax-free initiatives from July this year to next June, and waiver of service tax.
She said financial assistance of RM600 per staff was given monthly to ensure they kept their jobs under the Employment Retention Programme,
The ministry also provided financing facilities through Bank Pembangunan Malaysia and SME Bank.
