Chan Foong Hin (PH-Kota Kinabalu) said a letter dated Oct 9 clearly states that a mandatory 14-day quarantine is required for those arriving from Sabah.
“In the letter, it is stated that all Sabah MPs will need to undergo quarantine for 14 days. Why is there an exception for the Keningau MP?”
Chan said Jeffrey should be referred to the committee under Standing Order 80 (A) and asked for a ruling from the speaker.
Deputy speaker Rashid Hasnon, who was chairing the sitting, said the health ministry had given approval for Jeffrey to attend Parliament and asked Chan to submit his proposal in writing for consideration.
Yesterday, several opposition MPs had raised safety concerns over Jeffrey’s presence in the Dewan.
They said the Sabah deputy chief minister had attended the state assembly meeting in Kota Kinabalu on Nov 12 and could not have completed his mandatory 14-day quarantine in the peninsula.
However, deputy speaker Azalina Othman Said, said the Parliament’s doctor had given clearance to Jeffrey to attend the meeting.
“He (Jeffrey) has received a release order from the health ministry following the end of his quarantine,” she was reported as saying.
