According to Bernama, this was revealed by Perak Dewan Negara member Mohd Anuar Zaini.

Saarani will be sworn in at 11am tomorrow.

Earlier today, Perikatan Nasional leaders said the dispute over who will be Perak menteri besar had been settled, and the state will remain under the coalition.

Perak has been without a menteri besar since Ahmad Faizal Azumu’s ouster on Friday when he lost the confidence of the state assembly with 48 members voting against a motion of confidence in him.

Sultan Nazrin had met with various leaders at Istana Kinta over the past few days, including Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Saarani and three Pakatan Harapan leaders.

Saarani, 59, will become the state’s 14th menteri besar.

Born in Lenggong on March 13, 1961, Saarani is married to Aezer Zubir, a retired teacher. The couple have eight children.

He has a Diploma in Physics and Mathematics from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), and a degree in Human Resources Management from Open University Malaysia (OUM).

Saarani has served under three menteris besar including Tajul Rosli Ghazali from Umno, Zambry Abdul Kadir (Umno) and Faizal (PPBM).

In Zambry and Faizal’s administrations, Saarani served as a senior exco member in charge of various portfolios, including rural development, entrepreneurial development, cooperatives and consumer affairs, agriculture and plantations, and human resources and information.

The four-term assemblyman was the opposition leader in the state assembly during Pakatan Harapan’s 22-month reign.

Saarani’s appointment comes after the presidents of Umno, PPBM and PAS agreed to nominate him as menteri besar.
