13 new Covid-19 clusters detected, highest recorded in a day

They involve Selangor, Perak, Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan, Johor, Sabah and Melaka.

The health ministry has reported a daily record high 13 new Covid-19 clusters in the country, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.

In a press conference, Noor Hisham said the clusters involve Selangor, Perak, Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan, Johor, Sabah and Melaka.

The Dataran Utas cluster was detected in the Petaling district of Selangor, with the first few cases detected on Jan 6 after a targeted screening at a company. A total of 196 people have been screened, with 66 testing positive.

The Casa Permai was also detected in Petaling, with the index cases found positive on Dec 31 after a targeted screening at a supermarket. A total of 650 people have been screened, with 109 found positive.

The Medan Jasa cluster involves Petaling; Kuala Kangsar, Perak; and Lembah Pantai, Kuala Lumpur. The first case, who is a severe acute respiratory infections (SARI) patient, tested positive on Dec 29. A total of 142 people have been tested, with 64 found positive.

The Tasik Utama cluster involves Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, and Hulu Langat, Selangor, with the index case detected on Jan 6 during a screening after exhibiting symptoms. A total of 511 individuals have been screened, with 49 testing positive.

The Firma cluster was detected in Johor Bahru, with the first few cases testing positive on Jan 6 after a targeted screening at a factory. A total of 85 people have been screened, with 45 testing positive.

The Persiaran Teknologi cluster was detected in Kulai, Johor, with the index cases found positive on Jan 6 after a targeted screening at a factory. A total of 32 people were screened, with 25 found positive.

The Bersepadu cluster in Kota Tinggi, Johor, involves an index case who tested positive on Jan 1 after a workplace screening. A total of 172 people have been screened, with 21 testing positive.

The Jalan Padu cluster was detected in Johor Bahru, with the index case testing positive on Jan 3 during a screening after exhibiting symptoms. A total of 151 people have been screened, with 17 found positive.

The Kampung Pitas cluster involves the Kalabakan and Tawau districts in Sabah, with the index case found positive on Jan 2 during a screening after exhibiting symptoms. A total of 149 people have been screened, with 72 testing positive.

The Ikan Emas cluster was detected in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, with the first few cases testing positive on Jan 6 after a targeted screening at a company. A total of 43 people have been screened, with 35 positive cases detected.

The Kayuh cluster involves the Titiwangsa, Kepong and Lembah Pantai districts in Kuala Lumpur, with the index case detected on Jan 5 after a close contact screening. A total of 112 people have been screened, with 11 testing positive.

The Jalan Seputeh cluster was detected in Lembah Pantai with the first few cases found positive on Jan 6 after a targeted screening at a restaurant. Twenty-five people have been screened, with 18 found positive.

Lastly, the Anak Air cluster involves the Melaka Tengah and Jasin districts in Melaka, with the index case testing positive on Jan 1 during a screening after exhibiting symptoms. A total of 150 people have been screened, with 14 testing positive.

Noor Hisham also said three clusters officially ended today, namely the Kobena, Mengketil and UD SS2 clusters. There are now 252 active clusters left of the total 561.
