Halimah latest minister to test positive

National unity minister being treated for Covid-19 infection in Johor hospital.

Halimah Sadique’s condition is being monitored by the health ministry.
PETALING JAYA:
National Unity Minister Halimah Sadique has tested positive for Covid-19, the latest Cabinet member to contract the virus.

In a statement, Halimah’s office said she was being treated in Johor and her condition is being monitored by the health ministry.

She is the fifth minister to come down with Covid-19. Halimah’s office said she would be monitoring the ministry’s affairs while under quarantine.

Besides the five ministers, several deputy ministers are also under treatment after contracting Covid-19.

The others include home minister Hamzah Zainudin, women, family and community development minister Rina Harun, minister for economic affairs Mustapa Mohamed, and deputy communications and multimedia minister Zahidi Zainul Abidin.

Previously, other top government officials who contracted Covid-19 included minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (religious affairs) Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri and deputy environment and water minister Ahmad Masrizal Mohamad.

Earlier today, Padang Rengas MP and former tourism minister Nazri Aziz also tested positive and is currently being treated at the Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab in Kota Bharu, Kelantan.

Abdul Karim Omar, the Imam of the Selangor state mosque, the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque, also tested positive for Covid-19 today.
