Speaking to FMT, Otai Reformis secretary Abdul Razak Ismail said cooperation with either party will not benefit the former ruling coalition and only serve to make use of PKR, DAP and Amanah, again.
“Dr Mahathir or Umno will only use PH to ‘trade’ with Muhyiddin Yassin for their personal or party interests.”
Razak said Otai Reformis cannot comprehend PH’s obsession and willingness to still work with Mahathir, adding that he cannot see what the former prime minister nor Pejuang can offer with just four MPs.
“We unanimously reject cooperation with Mahathir. We will not compromise on this,” he said, adding the people cannot forget Mahahtir’s “betrayal” when he resigned as prime minister last February, triggering the collapse of the PH government.
He was commenting on Amanah vice-president Mahfuz Omar’s remarks that Mahathir’s readiness to accept Anwar as prime minister should the PKR president garner enough support in the Dewan Rakyat was a good sign for the opposition.
The Pokok Sena MP had also voiced hope that with Mahathir’s support, Anwar would step up efforts to strengthen the opposition bloc.
But Razak says he was told by PH leaders that Mahathir had never openly stated his support for Anwar as the opposition’s prime minister candidate.
He also alleged that some PH leaders were still having secret negotiations with Mahathir’s group.
He called on PH to forget about Mahathir and focus on the welfare of the people and the next general election.
“There seems to be no proactive efforts from the PH leadership to help the people in states not under PH’s rule who are struggling from the effects of the pandemic.”
