Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 1,346 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 310,958.
In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 327,253.
There are 15,075 active cases with 154 patients being treated in intensive care and 64 requiring respiratory assistance.
The two deaths bring the number of fatalities to 1,220.
The new cases today involved 1,212 local infections and seven imported cases. Local cases comprised 769 Malaysians and 443 foreigners.
Noor Hisham said Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 499.
This was followed by Sarawak with 225 cases, Johor (169), Penang (69), Kuala Lumpur (54), Negeri Sembilan (46), Perak (36), Sabah (31), Kedah (26), Melaka (20), Kelantan (19), Terengganu (15), Putrajaya (five), Pahang (three), Labuan (one), and Perlis (one).
There were 39 cases from prison and detention clusters today, namely Tembok Muhasabah (17), Tembok Sungai Udang (14), Tembok Bukit Besi (four), Telok Mas (two), Tembok Pengkalan Chepa (one) and DTI Persiaran Wawasan (one).
The two deaths today were from Sabah. They were both Malaysians. The 58-year-old woman and 75-year-old man both suffered from existing medical conditions.
