The PKR president, however, refused to elaborate.
“That’s his (Azmin’s) view. He is an expert when it comes to audio and video (recordings),” he said at a press conference.
Yesterday, Azmin, who was once Anwar’s deputy in PKR, said he was certain it was Anwar’s voice in the recording.
Both Zahid and Anwar have denied they were the ones in the audio recording and police have begun probing the case after receiving several reports.
The conversation allegedly took place after Umno’s annual general assembly last month and gives the impression the two leaders are working together.
Anwar previously claimed the audio recording was an attempt by the country’s leaders to resort to tricks after failing to threaten or induce people into supporting them.
Following this, home minister Hamzah Zainudin had said his ministry would investigate the authenticity of the clip.
Meanwhile, Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador urged both Zahid and Anwar to lodge reports to enable investigations to begin.
