“May Allah bless His Majesty’s reign”, Muhyiddin said.
The attention of political observers and the public has been firmly trained on the prime minister and his Cabinet in the last 24 hours, after it was revealed they had revoked the emergency ordinances without the Agong’s consent.
In a statement from Istana Negara yesterday, the Palace expressed the King’s “deep regret” over the announcement by law minister Takiyuddin Hassan in Parliament regarding the repeal of the ordinances.
Responding to the statement, the Prime Minister’s Office insisted that the revocation was carried out in accordance with the provisions of the law and the Federal Constitution.
Meanwhile, Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan today called on his party’s MPs to avoid being dragged into a crisis between the Perikatan Nasional-led government and the Palace.
He urged them to heed the party’s official stance and withdraw their support for the prime minister.
