PETALING JAYA:
The head of the Pekan Bersatu division has quit the party and announced that he is returning to Umno.

Wan Abu Bakar Wan Mohamad said he made the decision as he felt that only Umno can take the lead in fighting for the rights of Malays and Islam in the country.

“I am making this decision to also give moral support to the state chapter under the leadership of Pahang menteri besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail who has done much to rebuild the party since its loss in the 2018 general election,” he told Utusan Malaysia.

Wan Abu Bakar handed over his application form to Wan Rosdy, who is the chairman of the state Umno liaison committee, in Bentong today.

Previously, the head of Bersatu Temerloh Tengku Azlan Abu Bakar resigned from his party to also rejoin Umno with immediate effect, citing the same reason.

Wan Abu Bakar was the MP for Jerantut for three terms from 1982 to 1995.
