PETALING JAYA: Federal territories minister Shahidan Kassim has promised to fix Kuala Lumpur’s potholes in 24 hours – and he wants the city’s residents to call him about them.
The Arau MP gave out his mobile number in the Dewan Rakyat earlier today when touching on the issue of potholes in the city, stating he had ordered that immediate action be taken on every complaint or information on damaged roads.
“Call the minister at 019-4545111, the deputy minister (Jalaluddin Alias) at 019-6524444, or the mayor (Mahadi Che Ngah) at 016-2068883,” he said.
“We are available 24 hours. The rakyat can call us anytime. Those who have just arrived in KL and have stumbled upon potholes or dangerous roads, contact us, and we will take action within 24 hours.
“We want (our roads) to be the best in Malaysia and the world.”
The Umno MP was touching on P Prabakaran’s (PH-Batu) earlier comment on the state of roads in the capital.
“Thank you, minister, for being brave enough to give your telephone number for Malaysians to call,” said Prabakaran.
Citing vehicles involved in construction as the main cause of potholes and road damage in Kuala Lumpur, Prabakaran called on Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to monitor such sites located near main roads in the city centre.
