State local government and housing minister Masidi Manjun said the victim, a woman, had died on Oct 10 and her body was brought to her home in Kampung Senagang for burial the following day.
“A total of 20 family members were reported to have gathered when the woman’s remains were brought home,” Masidi said in his daily Covid-19 statement today.
Based on preliminary investigations, he said, the index case is believed to be the woman’s 37-year-old daughter-in-law.
He added the daughter-in-law was confirmed to have the virus at the Tenom hospital on Oct 14 and was admitted to a Covid-19 low-risk treatment centre the same day.
“From the 88 people screened, 50 were found infected, including four new cases today,” Masidi said, adding further tests are still being carried out.
