Sabah local government and housing minister Masidi Manjun said the 40-year-old man had taken a RT-PCR test on arrival at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Dec 15.
He had arrived on a flight with others in his umrah group from Saudi Arabia. It is learned the group was there from Dec 4 to 15.
“The man had taken the test before he took his connecting flight to Sandakan,” he said when contacted.
“He subsequently underwent compulsory home quarantine in Sandakan before the test result came back on Dec 17, confirming he had the virus.”
Masidi said screening of all his umrah group members and close contacts found 10 others to be infected. This has led to the Millenium cluster.
He said the patients are being given the appropriate treatment currently.
Masidi said Sabah recorded 202 new daily cases over the past 24 hours, which is 46 more than yesterday.
