Kota Kinabalu MP Chan Foong Hin, one of the PSC members, said he has received a notice from the Dewan Rakyat secretary that the meeting will be held at 2pm on Jan 19 at the Parliament building.
“The issue we will discuss is the MACC chief’s ownership of company shares,” he said in a Facebook post, with pictures of the notice attached.
The PSC is headed by PAS MP Abdul Latiff Abdul Rahman and its other members include Umno’s Tajuddin Abdul Rahman and Nizar Zakaria, Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s Anyi Ngau, PAS’ Shaharizukirnain Abd Kadir, Pakatan Harapan’s William Leong and Khoo Poay Tiong and Warisan’s Azis Jamman.
There have been calls for PSC to summon Azam over the controversy of his ownership of shares in public-listed companies.
MACC’s Anti-Corruption Advisory Board chairman, Abu Zahar Ujang, had cleared Azam of any wrongdoing over the matter, while Azam had clarified that the shares were not his but that he willingly allowed his younger brother to use his trading account.
Police confirmed that a report had been filed against Azam over the matter, which has since been referred to the Securities Commission Malaysia for further action.
