Speaking to FMT, Farhash also said he plans to contest against Gombak MP Azmin Ali and Gombak Setia assemblyman Hilman Idham at the next general election (GE15) if they decide to retain their seats.
Azmin and Hilman ditched PKR to join Bersatu following the Sheraton Move in 2020.
PKR leaders regard Azmin as the mastermind behind the internal strife in the party, which eventually led to him and a group of other MPs joining Muhyiddin Yassin to overthrow the Pakatan Harapan government.
“I’ve offered to contest against Azmin or Hilman, this is why I want to contest in Gombak. If they run somewhere else, I will find (them). I don’t care where the state or parliamentary seat is,” he said.
Farhash, who is party president Anwar Ibrahim’s former political secretary, said his decision to challenge Amirudin was not meant to eliminate any “Azmin cartel” or paint Amirudin in a bad light.
“There are no cartels in PKR (anymore),” he said.
“Even if there are, they may be remnants of those who used to be with Azmin. But I do not consider Amirudin to be with Azmin. I see him as a party man,” he said.
Amirudin was voted as Gombak division chief in the party’s 2018 election, defeating Nizam Md Saad by 1,115 votes.
Farhash said Amirudin also did not need to be suspicious of his intention to contest in Gombak in the PKR election.
“I don’t see why the menteri besar or his team should be worried because they have been working there for years, and I am (just) a regular member,” he said.
He also dismissed the notion that the contest for the Gombak PKR chief’s seat would lead to a conflict.
“Why would there be a conflict? This is the process of democracy. A position is only temporary and it doesn’t belong to anyone,” he said.
“It may seem controversial because I am the Perak (PKR) chairman, but for me, I don’t want to fight over such things. This is an election, and we should go about it properly.”
