Maszlee to contest Layang-Layang seat in Johor polls

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim confirmed this today.

Maszlee Malik is the only MP from PKR who will be contesting in the March 12 polls.
PETALING JAYA:
Simpang Renggam MP Maszlee Malik will contest the Layang Layang seat at next month’s Johor state elections.

In making the announcement, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim also said Maszlee — the former education minister — is the only MP from PKR who will be contesting in the March 12 polls.

Maszlee is said to be Pakatan Harapan’s menteri besar candidate if the coalition wins in the elections.

“He has been with us from the beginning. That’s why I want to highlight Maszlee,” said Anwar on Facebook.

He said the candidates for east and central Johor will be announced later. “The eastern zone candidates will be announced in a day or two.”

This morning, Anwar announced the candidates for the southern zone.

Among PKR’s more prominent candidates are S Gopalakrishnan, who will seek re-election in Tiram and Johor Wanita PKR chief Napsiah Khamis, who will be vying for Kempas.

Dr Zamil Najwah Arbain, who vied for Tanjung Surat in GE14 but lost, will be contesting the Larkin seat.

The Pasir Raja and Bukit Batu seats will be contested by Johor PKR Youth secretary Fakhruddin Moslim and Arthur Chiong, both new faces.
