PETALING JAYA: Police are investigating a report that a student in a Fardu Ain Basic Class (Kafa) was caned five times by his teacher for asking his classmate to take off his songkok so the boy could see the whiteboard.
Cheras district police chief Muhammad Idzam Jaafar said a report was lodged by the student’s father over the incident which happened on Tuesday, for which the boy had to receive treatment in hospital, Kosmo reported
“The teacher was said to be unhappy with the complainant’s son, who had asked his classmate seated at the front of the class to take off his songkok as it was difficult to see some of the writings on the whiteboard.
“Preliminary investigations found that the teacher involved had caned the student five times, leaving marks on his body. The student was then treated at Hospital Kuala Lumpur,” he said, according to the Malay daily.
Idzam also said investigating officers had gone to the school to complete their probe, but were informed that the Kafa teacher was on leave.
