PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said Ismail’s unity agenda had led to stability and “a good political climate”.
“This approach will certainly be supported by all parties on a bipartisan basis,” he said in a statement today.
Takiyuddin said the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the federal government and Pakatan Harapan (PH) was important for the country’s recovery process, especially in health and the economy, as well as the well-being of the people.
Yesterday, the Umno Supreme Council picked Ismail as the prime ministerial candidate ahead of GE15.
Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan said the Supreme Council also decided that the MoU signed by the government and PH on “political stability and transformation” should not be extended after it expires on July 31.
However, Supreme Council member Tajuddin Abdul Rahman said there was no guarantee that Ismail would continue as prime minister after GE15.
