PETALING JAYA:
Electricity has been fully restored in all areas affected by the blackout this afternoon, says Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB).

In a Facebook post, TNB said all affected areas had their power supply restored at 3.02pm.

An investigation found that the blackout in several parts of the peninsula was caused by damaged equipment at the Yong Peng North main inlet substation in Johor, it said.

TNB said most of the affected areas had their supply restored about 20 minutes after the outage first occurred.

It said the power outage caused by the technical failure had led to a 2.2-gigawatt loss of load, and that this was 10% of the total electric demand in the peninsula.

“We apologise for any inconvenience that this disruption has caused our users,” it said.

Several parts of the Klang Valley were hit by the blackout at about 12.45pm, leaving many areas with no electricity.

There were also reports of outages in Pahang, Kedah, Negeri Sembilan, Perak and Penang.

Netizens in Kuantan, Seremban, Manjung, Ipoh, Nilai, Perai and Sungai Petani took to Twitter to complain about the power outages in their areas.
