PETALING JAYA:
Budget 2023 will be tabled on Oct 7, three weeks earlier than initially scheduled, says law minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.

Speaking to FMT, Wan Junaidi said the next Dewan Rakyat meeting will start on Oct 3, with next year’s national budget to be tabled four days later.

“That (Parliament) sitting will end on Oct 29, so voting on the budget will take place before that.”

Wan Junaidi also said the date change was not linked to the next general election (GE15), which is expected by many to be held this year.

Yesterday, Bernama reported that deputy finance minister Shahar Abdullah said Budget 2023 will be tabled on Oct 28 as per Parliament’s calendar.

He was commenting on a report that finance minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz might present the budget earlier to make way for GE15.
