Speaking at the PN Convention here, he also attacked the PH government for failing to serve the people well during its 22 months in power. He accused PH of being more focused on the power struggle for the prime minister’s post instead of governing the country.
“PH was a sloppy, ‘instant noodles’ government,” he said.
“They had numerous weaknesses. The aid meant for the public never reached them and there were all sorts of other issues.
“But we (PN) took over in an orderly manner. There was no bloodshed, there were no demonstrations, and there were no fights with the police.”
The Sheraton Move in February 2020 saw Barisan Nasional (BN), Bersatu, PAS, GPS and a faction led by PKR’s then deputy president Azmin Ali join forces to topple the PH government. Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin was appointed prime minister shortly after.
The alliance between the various factions became known as PN. The coalition was then officially established with Bersatu and PAS as its component parties. The coalition now includes Sabah parties, STAR and SAPP, and former BN component, Gerakan.
Hadi, who is PN deputy chairman, said after PH was overthrown and Muhyiddin took over, there were no internal problems in the PN-led government and the public were well taken care of.
“However, after that, there were some differences with some of our friends in the government,” he said, referring to several BN MPs from Umno who withdrew their support for Muhyiddin.
“Muhyiddin was willing to resign because he wanted to maintain PN’s unity.
“That’s how Ismail Sabri Yaakob, from Umno, became the new prime minister,” Hadi said.
