“I’m the PKR deputy president and I’m the one sitting in the PH (Pakatan Harapan) presidential council, but he (Muhyiddin) is the one who knows what PH’s decisions are?” said Rafizi in a statement.
“The decision to put a full stop to any talk of collaboration with PN is one taken by the PH presidential council.
“PH has decided it will strengthen the coalition and enter GE15 (alone). Full stop.”
He said that while there may be discussions behind the scenes, any personal views of leaders from PH component parties would not affect the PH presidential council’s stance.
Muhyiddin yesterday played down Rafizi’s opposition to collaborate with PN at the next general election (GE15), stating that it was a proposal the opposition needed to consider.
At the PN convention on Saturday, Muhyiddin called for opposition parties to unite ahead of GE15 as he said it would be difficult to defeat “the main enemy”, Barisan Nasional, in multi-cornered contests.
Today, Rafizi said that while Muhyiddin had claimed that opposition parties needed to bring down BN, who Muhyiddin has accused of being corrupt, he had no qualms about accepting Umno MPs in Bersatu.
“It is better for Muhyiddin to openly state that PN wants to work with PH for personal interests and power, not for national interests,” he said.
“We may be young, but we are not stupid.”
