Worker dies in 51st floor building construction mishap

The fire and rescue department says concrete at the Oxley Tower project in Kuala Lumpur had collapsed, trapping the Bangladeshi under the rubble.

A migrant worker died after a mishap on the 51st floor of a building under construction at Jalan Ampang in Kuala Lumpur.

The Kuala Lumpur fire and rescue department said it received a distress call at 12.23am today and sent 20 personnel to the scene.

It said concrete on the 51st floor of the Oxley Tower project had collapsed, trapping the victim under the rubble.

The firemen had to slice and break apart the concrete to extract the victim, it said in a statement. The body was extracted at about 7.20am.

The department said the victim was a Bangladeshi construction worker. His body was handed over to the police.
