Bersatu vice-president Kiandee had been dropped from Gabungan Rakyat Sabah’s (GRS) list of candidates for the general election after the coalition made way for Sabah Barisan Nasional in the seat.
GRS and Sabah BN had agreed to cooperate for GE15. Bersatu, the PN lynchpin is also a component of GRS.
Kiandee arrived at the nomination centre at 8.45am accompanied by supporters carrying PN flags.
The agriculture and food industries minister won the Beluran seat in 2018 on a BN ticket but left Umno to join Bersatu later that year.
Yesterday, sources told FMT that Kiandee would contest the seat thus setting up a clash with the BN candidate named by GRS.
