2 cars damaged in KL flash flood

Two cars were damaged by floodwaters following a downpour this evening.

In a statement, Kuala Lumpur police said the incident happened in Jalan Chan Sow Lin.

“Two vehicles were caught in the floods, with floodwaters reaching the cars’ doors. However, the victims were successfully rescued from their respective vehicles,” it said.

It also added that Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) officials were present to close the road in both directions.

The two vehicles involved in the incident were a Perodua Axia and a Subaru XV, which were driven by a 23-year-old and a 39-year-old respectively.

Earlier, national news agency Bernama said several areas in Shah Alam were inundated after two hours of heavy rain.

Meanwhile, the irrigation and drainage department said several areas in the Peninsula were at risk of flash floods.

In Kuala Lumpur, these areas include PWTC, Jalan Loke Yew, Jalan Pudu, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Masjid Jamek and the Kesas toll.

Negeri Sembilan districts such as Jelebu, Rembau and Seremban are also at risk.
