Anwar optimistic about forming govt with BN

Anwar Ibrahim confirms PH had met representatives from BN this morning.

PH chairman Anwar Ibrahim says negotiations with BN have not concluded yet.
KUALA LUMPUR:
Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Anwar Ibrahim remains optimistic that the coalition will be able to form a government with Barisan Nasional (BN).

At a press conference, Anwar confirmed that PH had met representatives from BN this morning.

He said he was the sole prime ministerial candidate as BN did not suggest a candidate during the discussions.

On whether he would appoint a deputy prime minister from BN, Anwar said he would only decide once he assumed the premiership.

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong has given party leaders and heads of coalitions a one-day extension of the deadline to propose their prime ministerial candidate.

Istana Negara said they have until 2pm tomorrow to submit the names of their candidates.

Separately, Anwar welcomed the developments in Perak after Dewan Negara Perak member Annuar Zaini said Sultan Nazrin Shah was happy with the numbers presented by BN and PH to form the state government.
