KUALA LUMPUR:
Barisan Nasional (BN) is seeking an extension to the 2pm deadline set by Istana Negara to submit its prime ministerial candidate, says Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The Umno vice-president said no negotiations have been held with Perikatan Nasional (PN) or Pakatan Harapan (PH) and that they cannot be finalised by today.

The former prime minister also denied that BN MPs had signed statutory declarations backing Anwar Ibrahim as the prime minister, saying no discussions were held during today’s meeting with PH leaders at Seri Pacific hotel here.

Asked when BN MPs would be signing their statutory declarations, Ismail replied: “I don’t know yet.”
