9 bodies remain unidentified from Batang Kali landslide

Hulu Selangor police chief Suffian Abdullah has urged anyone with information or who could positively identify the bodies to visit Hospital Sungai Buloh.

Suffian Abdullah said the authorities have released 15 bodies to their families and next of kin after successfully identifying them.

The bodies of nine victims of the Batang Kali landslide have yet to be identified.

Hulu Selangor police chief Suffian Abdullah urged anyone with information or who could positively identify the bodies to visit Hospital Sungai Buloh to provide assistance.

He said the authorities have released 15 bodies to their families and next of kin after successfully identifying them.

The Batang Kali landslide, which occurred early Friday morning, has so far claimed 24 lives.

A total of 61 people survived the landslide, which took place at the three campsites at 2am on Friday.

Search and rescue operations continue for nine people who are still unaccounted for.

Suffian said the 15 bodies that were released comprised two adult males, eight adult females, two male children, and three female children.

The authorities identified the bodies through fingerprints or with the assistance of their families and next of kin.
