PETALING JAYA:
Terengganu menteri besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said the state assembly will run its course until it expires on June 30.

“There is no need for us to hold the state elections for now. So we just wait, until the term ends, if possible,” he was reported as saying in Berita Bersatu, the website for Perikatan Nasional-related news.

Samsuri also said he will try to meet the menteris besar of Selangor, Kedah, Kelantan and Negeri Sembilan, and the Penang chief minister to discuss whether they could dissolve their respective state assemblies at the same time.

“We will be in Kuala Lumpur for the Conference of Rulers meeting from Monday to Thursday, and we will try to slot in some time to discuss this,” he said.

Previously, Kelantan deputy menteri besar Amar Nik Abdullah had said the state elections might be held some time between July and August, while Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Aminuddin Harun said the state assembly would dissolve on June 1.

Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari had also indicated that the state assembly would not dissolve before Hari Raya, and Kedah menteri besar Sanusi Md Nor said the state assembly was expected to be dissolved in the middle of June.
