Carry on dreaming of govt’s collapse, Anwar tells Hadi

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim says it’s the PAS president's right to plan and hope for an end to the unity government.

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang (left) was reported to have claimed that the Anwar Ibrahim administration would collapse soon because the ‘roof is leaky and the front door is wide open’.
SERDANG:
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has chided PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang for predicting that the unity government would collapse before the end of its term.

“It’s fine, it’s his right to plan and dream (of the government collapsing),” Anwar told reporters briefly after performing Friday prayers at the Universiti Putra Malaysia mosque here.

Hadi, who is Marang MP, had reportedly said Anwar’s administration would collapse “soon”, telling government parties not to blame Perikatan Nasional (PN) for this.

The PAS leader had also said the next administration would not be a backdoor government, claiming that the current administration’s “roof is leaky and the front door is wide open”.

PKR deputy information chief Razeef Rakimin had previously dismissed Hadi’s claim, citing the government’s two-thirds majority and the anti-hopping law.

Razeef said Putrajaya’s “solid” relationship with the ruling coalitions in Sabah and Sarawak rendered Hadi’s prediction baseless.

He also wondered if PAS and its PN component, Bersatu, were trying to engineer another Sheraton Move, which had led to the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government in 2020.
