Razali accused Anwar of misusing his power by “pressuring” the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) into initiating a probe against Bersatu leaders to tarnish the party’s reputation.
According to Berita Harian, Razali alleged that Anwar and Zahid had attempted to weaken Bersatu and Perikatan Nasional ahead of the upcoming state elections in six states.
“On Dec 6, Anwar claimed that Muhyiddin’s government had misappropriated RM600 billion in funds which were meant for various stimulus packages.
“This is clearly a false accusation as this RM600 billion figure was lowered to RM530 billion, RM92.5 billion, RM4.5 billion and finally to RM300 million,” he said.
Razali also said Zahid, in his speech at Umno’s general assembly in January, had said there would be a “court cluster” involving Perikatan Nasional and Bersatu leaders, though investigations had yet to be wrapped up then.
“This is clear evidence that there exists an evil conspiracy against Muhyiddin, PN and Bersatu.”
Last month, the MACC froze Bersatu’s bank accounts. This then led to the arrest and charging of party leaders Wan Saiful Wan Jan and Adam Radlan Adam Muhammad a few weeks later.
They were charged with allegedly soliciting and accepting bribes in relation to the Jana Wibawa initiative, a programme intended to help Bumiputera businesses amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Earlier this month, Muhyiddin was charged with four counts of abuse of power and three counts of money laundering.
