The deputy prime minister, who is also Umno president, said discussions will be held with Melaka chief minister Ab Rauf Yusoh first before any decision is made.
“I want the exco lineup to have the same composition as the unity government,” said Zahid in a Bernama report.
“Although BN and Umno control the state government in Melaka, it would be good if the state government reflects togetherness and power-sharing with the assemblymen who were elected by the people,” he told reporters after an event in Bagan Datuk, Perak.
BN and Pakatan Harapan (PH) are part of the unity government led by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
To date, BN and PH have formed unity governments in Perak and Pahang.
Rauf, who was sworn in as the state’s 13th chief minister yesterday, said he would announce the lineup within the next 48 hours after seeking Zahid’s advice.
Rauf was appointed chief minister after Sulaiman Ali resigned on Thursday.
