
This will be on top of the public holiday on Friday.
However, if Aidilfitri falls on Saturday, the additional public holiday will be fixed for Friday, while the Raya public holiday falls on Monday.
Anwar said this will only be for the peninsula and Labuan, as Sabah and Sarawak will declare their own state holidays.
“This is to make it easier for people to plan their travel to return to their hometowns.
“I hope the initiatives and special programmes implemented by the government will allow for a more meaningful Aidilfitri for all Malaysians this year,” he told a press conference.
While Aidilfitri is tentatively fixed for April 22, the International Astronomy Centre based in the United Arab Emirates has predicted that the first day of Aidilfitri would fall on April 21.
