Based on the modus operandi, police believe he could have been involved in at least two other robberies – at a jewellery shop on March 25 and a convenience store on April 5 in nearby areas, also armed with his “pistol”.
Ipoh district police chief Yahaya Hassan told Bernama the suspect had past narcotics offences, and had tested positive for morphine.
In yesterday’s case, police received information regarding the robbery about 4pm.
“A team from the Pekan Baru police station sped to the scene and arrested the man. We also seized several items, including a backpack, a toy pistol and two knives.”
Yahaya said the suspect had been remanded until Saturday for further investigations.
