I’m not gunning for PAS’ number 2 post, says Sanusi

Kedah menteri besar Sanusi Nor says he has also rejected nominations for the vice-presidency of his party.

PAS’ Sanusi Nor (left) has repeatedly attacked Penang recently, which UUM academician Azizuddin Sani says is part of the Kedah menteri besar’s plan to endear himself to the Malay community in the state.
ALOR SETAR:
Kedah menteri besar Sanusi Nor has rubbished an analyst’s claim that he is gunning for the post of PAS deputy president.

Sanusi said academic Azizuddin Sani’s take on the matter was wide of the mark.

“I have also turned down nominations for the vice-presidency,” Sanusi, the Islamic party’s election director, told FMT.

On Tuesday, FMT quoted Universiti Utara Malaysia’s Azizuddin as saying that Sanusi’s long-term goal was to be PAS’ deputy president.

Azizudin also said Sanusi’s repeated attacks on Penang were an effort to endear himself to Malay Kedahans. However, he said there was no proof that Sanusi’s rhetoric was appreciated by Kedah folk.

Dismissing the academician’s remarks, Sanusi said: “He (Azizudin) does not know PAS well.

“Many UUM lecturers are famous for being apple polishers for the government. There are more ‘lalang’ (weeds) than humans there.”
