Azmin made S’gor opposition leader, PN forms shadow exco

The former Selangor menteri besar was unanimously appointed to the post by the PN state chapter.

PETALING JAYA:
Hulu Kelang assemblyman Azmin Ali has been appointed the opposition leader in the Selangor state assembly.

According to The Star, Selangor Perikatan Nasional (PN) unanimously agreed that the former menteri besar should take on the position.

Meanwhile, Bernama reported that Azmin had announced the formation of a PN “portfolio committee”, comprising 10 opposition assemblymen, to shadow the state executive council.

Azmin said the committee’s goal would be to ensure that state assembly proceedings focused on discussions and debates that would benefit the people.

The 10 committee members are:

  • Azmin Ali (Hulu Kelang) – finance, economy, land and natural resources;
  • Halim Tamuri (Paya Jaras) – education and human resources;
  • Jamil Salleh (Dengkil) – local government, housing and infrastructure;
  • Dr Afif Bahardin (Taman Medan) – health, environment and climate change;
  • Muhaimin Harith (Batang Kali) – science, technology, innovation, communication and digital industry;
  • Hilman Idham (Gombak Setia) – youth and sports;
  • Nushi Mahfodz (Semenyih) – Islamic affairs and rural development;
  • Nurul Syazwani Noh (Permatang) – women, family, welfare and unity;
  • Sallehen Mukhyi (Sabak) – agriculture and agrofood industry; and,
  • Noorazley Yahya (Bukit Melawati) – tourism and Malay cultural heritage.
