KUALA LUMPUR:
Police will move on to the next stage of their probe into the murder of six-year-old autistic boy Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin.

Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain said this includes arresting suspects based on the intelligence they have collected.

He also said that police would compare the statements collected so far with that of the intel gathered.

Razarudin, however, admitted that police were having difficulty establishing the motive for Zayn’s murder.

“He has no enemies. He’s just an autistic kid and we don’t know why anyone would murder him,” Razarudin said at a press conference.

Zayn was reported missing at noon on Dec 5. He was found dead the next day near a stream about 200m from his home with injuries to his neck.

The case was reclassified from sudden death to murder after a post-mortem revealed there were also injuries to the boy’s body. Defensive wounds were also found.

Police have also sought the assistance from Interpol to aid in the investigation.
