PETALING JAYA:
The body of a student from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas), reported missing after not returning to his dormitory yesterday, was found floating in the campus lake early this morning.

A spokesman for the operations control centre of the Sarawak fire and rescue department said they received a call about the discovery of the body at 8.32am, Berita Harian reported.

Seven members from the Kota Samarahan fire and rescue station, near Kuching, were sent to the scene.

“The body was handed over to the police before being transported to Sarawak General Hospital for a post-mortem,” the spokesman said.

It was previously reported that a missing person’s report was filed earlier by the university dormitory after the student failed to return yesterday.

Kota Samarahan police chief Jaimi Husin said the initial investigation found no signs of foul play.

Family members identified the body, he said in a statement.
