PETALING JAYA:
A 53-year-old man is to be charged with the 2021 murder of his mother tomorrow, police said.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Rusdi Isa said the Attorney-General’s Chamber had agreed to charge the suspect after reviewing the investigation paper submitted today.

“The suspect’s remand ends tomorrow and he will be charged tomorrow,” he said in a statement.

Rusdi also said police had recorded statements from 13 witnesses in the course of their investigation.

On Nov 12, it was reported that the suspect was arrested on suspicion of killing his mother three years ago and storing her body in a freezer at his home in Taman OUG, off Jalan Klang Lama.

The man was believed to have beaten his mother, who was in her 80s, to death and wrapped her body in towels and plastic bags before storing it in the freezer.

The suspect filed a police report on the matter, purportedly after depleting his savings and becoming chronically ill. He was then arrested by police and sent for a medical checkup.

Police said early findings from a post-mortem revealed that the woman in her 80s had suffered “chest injuries due to blunt trauma”.
