PETALING JAYA:
PKR MP Hassan Karim has urged his party colleagues to shun the PAS-led rally planned in support of former prime minister Najib Razak on Jan 6.

Hassan said PKR has always been firm in opposing corruption or abuse of power regardless of the individual involved, and that the rally was unnecessary.

“Concerning the purported royal addendum order (allowing Najib to serve his sentence under house arrest), just wait for the Court of Appeal’s decision on Jan 6. Why must there be a massive rally to pressure the judges and court?

“To me, no PKR member should attend the rally come Jan 6,” he said in a statement.

The outspoken PKR man also insisted that Najib had been granted a fair trial in his conviction for the SRC International case.

“There was no miscarriage of justice – he was found guilty and punished,” he said.

Hasbie Muda, the youth chief of Pakatan Harapan (PH) component Amanah, yesterday said party members were free to join the rally. He said there was no directive from Amanah or PH for members to skip the event.

PAS’s rally at the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya will be held on the same day that the Court of Appeal hears Najib’s application on a purported supplementary decree placing him under house arrest.

Najib previously said the Federal Territories Pardons Board did not announce the terms of the supplementary decree, and that the government was in contempt for not complying with it.

Some Bersatu leaders are expected to attend the Jan 6 rally, which has been welcomed by Umno Supreme Council member Puad Zarkashi.
